Lingerie and Lipcolor Favorites for Valentines Day

more-better-500x500Kellye Bra

Valentine’s day is coming up which means its time for the ultimate date night! I love getting dressed up with my husband Marc, going out to dinner and going for cocktails afterward. My husband is a little more simplistic in his desires for how to celebrate valentines day. He’s happy if I’m happy. Over the last 14 years of being together we have taken turns planning our V-day. We both love food and drinks as much as the other , so picking a fancy place to sit together for a while and talking over some of the best wine and food is a super enjoyable night for us.

We aren’t big gift givers on valentine’s day, but he always picks up a pretty bouquet of flowers (which he knows is my favorite) and I try to make sure he has a bottle of his favorite bourbon . We sip on that as we get ready.

Marc is really big on style and always looks fabulous. I love to focus on my makeup and I enjoy taking some time to pamper myself . I do ALL the steps, not just my quick 5 minute foundation, mascara, bronzer and lipgloss routine. Im talking , highlighting , contouring, wing liner and best part , a fabulous statement lip color. Cara Bra

Lately I’ve been really into these Ultra Matte lip colors from Colour Pop Cosmetics. Im not sure about your man, but mine hates getting lipstick on him (and we are always trying each others cocktails/wine at dinner) so having a matte , stay put for hours, no transfer lip color like these is a must for Valentine’s day .

It lasts so long that by the end of the night when you are slipping into something extra special, like these matching bra and panty sets from Adore Me , you will be sure that your makeup is still looking fabulous. Ultra-Matte-Lip-Tulle-300x300

You could even coordinate your lip color to compliment your sexy lingerie! I found these combinations that I think are extra pretty .
Best part is , when you are shopping for lingerie to wow him ,you can also pick yourself up something that you can use regularly in your makeup kit. Win win!

Autumn Photoshoot with Jamie Hopper Photography

playing in the leaves

I love the fall! Maybe it’s because I am from New York and living in Atlanta leaves a lot to the imagination when it comes to cold weather and beautiful changing leaves. But once in a while , even if it’s just for one week , we get to feel and see autumn in Atlanta!  Photographer Jamie Hopper and I struck while the iron was hot, and with the help of some beautiful models from Factor Modeling Management in Atlanta (and a cute little french bulldog) we created some beautiful images!

We kept the makeup natural and pretty , after all , we were all playing in piles of leaves! You can’t see me , but I promise I was in the background throwing all those leaves at the models. Jamie told me to do it🙂

Check out all the fun we had:

Special Thanks to all the folks who made this shoot possible – we couldn’t have done is without your bike , Chloe! And definitely not without your pup , Julia! You guys are the best.

Highschool Senior Summer Photoshoot with Dash Photography

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of doing makeup for a really creatively styled shoot by Amanda Coker from Dash Photography here in Atlanta. I always love working with Amanda , she likes bright colors & fun concepts, and always let’s me play when it comes down to makeup.

This summer inspired photo shoot was one of Amanda’s many styled photo shoots designed for high school seniors. She gives creative space to these 17-19 year old girls who are about to graduate and want something more fun than the typical backdrop cap and gown photos (taken in an auditorium at school) to remember their high school days.

I personally love working with girls in this age range. They are ok with fun colors and wing liner and lashes! All of things I enjoy most… I got to do all of that on this super fun , snack filled🙂 styled shoot (peep those macaroons , man! they were kinda A LOTTA BIT yum central.)

Check out how awesome Wellsley , Madison & Victoria look!

Concealer – find the right one for you!

concealer Concealer is the one product needed by almost everyone. Whether you have acne flare-ups or  scarring,  under-eye circles from lack of sleep or genetics ,  or sometimes find yourself dealing with uneven skin tone from hormones or pregnancy , you will often find the need for more coverage in addition to your foundation.

Finding the right kind of concealer can sometimes be more daunting than finding the proper shade. After all, there are only thousands of products screaming at you from television commercials and magazine ads. BB concealer ? CC corrector? HD?

Yeah, I’m sure your brain wants to explode like mine and everyone else’s.

Not to worry! I’ve been asked by a lot of my clients lately  to help them find the proper concealer, and I’ve become a little obsessed with learning about different products and purposes.

Here are my concealer recommendations for different needs :

Full Coverage Concealer (good for acne scarring and discoloration & tattoo coverage ) Makeup Forever Full Cover Concealer $32 with a matte finish , oil free formula and full coverage properties , this concealer can cover intense discoloration, acne , and even tattoos.  You can thin this out by mixing in a little moisturizer or by wetting your brush or wedge before applying.

All Purpose Concealer (for all skins and types of concealing) : Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer $33  this is a 2 toned concealer  that allows you the ability to mix the colors in order to get the perfect tone for your skin and the intensity of coverage you desire. The formula is oil free and good for all skin types.

Budget Concealer : Hard Candy’s Glamouflage Concealer $6 (at Walmart Only)  is almost identical to the Makeup Forever Full Cover in its concealing properties. It is highly pigmented and is versatile in the way that if mixed with moisturizer or a damp brush, can be applied thinner or even made into a tinted moisturizer . It also comes with a concealer pencil that can be used to target small blemishes or even used to highlight the center of your face and top of cheekbones!

Dark Circles   When your foundation isn’t enough to cancel out the under eye darkness, you may need to add a corrector to cancel out the depth and intensity of the blue or black tones under the eyes. Try one of Bobbi  Brown’s Correctors $24 which come in different shades of peach (that helps to disguise the dark tone) and apply that first, lightly applying your foundation over it (to get rid of any peach color left over) .

Textured Under Eyes  or dark circles (where concealer makes it appear worse)  If you have issues with fine lines or excessive under eye dryness  and concealer seems to bring it out more,  I recommend Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightner $20 which uses reflecting particles to reduce the visibility of unwanted darkness or texture without adding pigment.

Look out for the next blog that will have concealer application TIPS & TECHNIQUES for covering tattoos, keeping concealer on all day, and the new and improved concealer brush!

Olivia Wilde Golden Globes 2014 Makeup Breakdown

olivia wilde, golden globes, makeup, 2014

The Golden Globe awards happen to be one of my favorite award shows, simply because there’s more fabulousness to be seen. Celebrities from both movies and television walk the red carpet in beautiful makeup and hair, as well as some of the most extravagantly gorgeous , and otherwise very ugly gowns🙂

My twitter feed blows up with hilarious comments from various fashion bloggers , and as I read them , Im simultaneously pulling up pictures of the red carpet pre show, so that I can make my own decisions. Primarily, who is wearing the best makeup.

The Verdict is in for 2014… and the winner is, Olivia Wilde !

Olivia definitely had to be one of my favorites. She looks so fresh yet still romantic, wearing a purple smokey eye and nude lip.  Believe it or not , she is actually wearing dark purple liner and not the traditional black  for this smokey eye.

smokey eye, purple, olivia wilde, golden globes 2014

Her makeup artist used different shades of purple , and a little black liner in the waterline, as well as a hefty coat of mascara to darken up the look!

Check out my instruction breakdown for Olivia Wilde’s 2014 Golden Globe makeup look!

Recommendations for this look :

Lips : NARS  Lipgloss in “Turkish Delight” $25  (yes the one Kim Kardashian wears- but it’s so fab!)

Eyes :  Mac eyeshadow in “Satellite Dreams” $15

Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner Pencil in “Empire” $19

Wearable Makeup Trends for Spring 2014

makeup trends for spring 2014 wearable

And with a few fireworks , some champagne (or lots of it) , and a whole new hefty to do list, here rolls in 2014!

It’s a new year, a time for resolutions to be made (and broken), a time for you to explore…out with the old and in with the new! Right?!?

Yes! and why not start by adding some fun to your regular makeup routine?

My study guide for makeup fun (and where I get some of my inspiration for new and exciting makeup looks) is the runway. Of course some of the models are wearing things you might never consider trying on yourself, but I went ahead and put together a list of the more wearable looks.

Here are my favorites from the 2014 spring season , along with product recommendations for you to re-create the looks on your own time.

Pastel Eyeshadow
spring trends eyeshadow greenNo one said you had to blend 5 shadows all the time. try sweeping just one pastel shade like Lucky Green from MAC ($15) over your lid!

Black Inky Liner

black kohl liner smokey eyeA little grunge for ya! Apply a glossy black kohl pencil like NYX’s Glossy Black Liner ($6) around the entire rim of your eye and smudge out slightly for a funky, sultry effect.

Orange Toned Lips

There are so many shades of orange, so you’re not allowed to be scared! Choose a subtle tangerine shade like Revlon Colorburst gloss in “Sizzle” ($8) or a super saturated orange like BANG! BANG! matte lipstick from Melt Cosmetics ($19)

Mountain Wedding Fabulousness

Recently, I got the opportunity to do makeup for my friend Emily’s wedding in the mountains of Dahlonega, GA . Emily is one of those ladies that just moves your heart with laughter, kind words, and the occasional inappropriate comment (I LOVE THAT!) and it made my heart happy to spend some time with her before she tied the knot!

It was a warm and sunny day, so Emily requested that we prep makeup on the porch of the cabin they were staying in. I set up my makeup station on a rocking chair and got to it! Emily has these amazing blue eyes , so we used some gray shades and smudged some black liner across her lash line to create a romantic smokey eye. We balanced the dramatic eye with a peachy-pink lip and she looked absolutely lovely.

Her photos taken by the fabulous folks over at Happy Everything Co. came out incredible.  I was just blessed to be part of such a beautiful and fun-loving group of people on the day of Emily’s wedding.

Personal Shopping Makeup Trip Extravaganza !

Some days seem to rank higher on the “fun scale” than others , and this last Tuesday was one of those. I had the privilege of taking friend and fellow creative, Rupa Kapoor of Puparazzi Portraits , to the mall for a personal makeup shopping trip.

With Starbucks Lattes in hand , we did a juggling act , testing out color swatches and product textures in between sips at both Sephora and Mac Cosmetics.

makeup artist , photographer , rupa kapoor, atlanta ga , friends

A few weeks ago, Rupa approached me about giving her a one on one makeup lesson so she could learn how to do her eye makeup better. Like usual, the 2 hour hands on session left us with a small list of “must haves” to complete her makeup bag.

With our list , we trekked out to the mall, and without wasting much time (or money!) Rupa walked out with all that she needed to complete her basic makeup collection , all purchased under her $150 budget (and she even got herself a little treat from Benefit cosmetics too!)

atlanta ga , personal shopping, mac cosmetics

This is what she purchased :

-Nars Tinted Moisturizer (spf 30) $40

Rupa wanted a higher spf than the drugstore foundation she was wearing without a heavy texture. So i set her up with Nars. Perfect!

makeup , lipstick, color, bright, mac cosmetics

-MAC Select Sheer/Loose Setting Powder ( NC45)  $25

Rupa has raved that nc45 from mac is her perfect shade! love when that happens!

-MAC Select Moisture Cover Concealer (NC45) $18

She needed something more opaque for the under eye area and this concealer is fabulous.

-MAC Mineralize Blush in “Love Thing” $25

We took a cracked limited edition blush from Clinique that Rupa was running out of and  color matched it with this one from MAC.

– Urban Decay Priming Potion (original) $20

This is a must have or anyone who wears eyeshadow. Intensifies pigment and prevents moving or creasing.

All in all , it was an extremely successful and enjoyable day for both of us. I got to see my friend walk away with excitement about her new goodies and a renewed confidence that her morning makeup regimen will be fun (and no longer a drag due to lack of the proper products.)

If you would like a one on one lesson with me, or a personal shopping trip like I did with Rupa (where I also act as your body guard and fight off the over zealous makeup counter folks who want you to spend hundreds of dollars!), email me for rates at brielleesposito@gmail.com

I promise we will have TOO MUCH FUN

Behind the Scenes : last week’s loveliness

I promised I would post some behind the scenes pictures of my busy (last) week, and after we gained an hour with “fall back” and I’ve medicated myself with a few “grande non-fat vanilla cinnamon dulce lattes” -I’m ready to put a re-cap on it!

On Tuesday, I hit the ground running by setting up makeup shop in a bar and painted some faces next to some salt and pepper shakers and ketchup (my office looks different everyday!)  ! We then got to shoot outside in front of an awesome Coca Cola mural .

makeup table at manuels tavern photoshoot outside props

On Thursday and Friday , I pulled some fabulous 12 hour days and got to have my own walkie talkie and trailer for makeup prep (i don’t know who decided to give me that, they obviously don’t know how loud I am)  . This was a little different from the bar setup and not to shabby either. It was a pretty fun week… I fell asleep at 9pm each night and did not get to dress up for Halloween , but it was all worth it! I love being on set.

And Saturday, well , my puppy Arya was modeling in her  own photo shoot! She was invited by a friend of ours to be a part of a promo photo shoot for a local Atlanta non-profit, WOW In-sync that supports developmentally disabled adults by providing them jobs making doggie clothes (HOW AWESOME!) and Arya got to model some of their goodies. doggie photoshoot

This is her giving kisses to photographer Rupa Kapoor of Puparazzi Portraits  (If you love your pups, you should get Rupa to do your christmas card, or your hanukkah card, or your easter card, or whatever lovely things you send out on holidays.)

rupa and arya There it is y’all. Just trying to keep this thing fun! I hope your week was as eventful as mine.
